Immigration Resources
Regardless of immigration status, you have the right to speak to a lawyer. You are allowed to have a lawyer with you when being questioned by ICE or CBP.
You can learn more about your rights by visiting the National Immigrant Justice Center website. There are quick cards to "Know Your Rights" in 56 different languages created by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.
It is important to stay calm during an encounter with immigration officials or law enforcement. If you are stopped by an officer, first ask if they are from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
