As of March 1, 2025, the City of Falcon Heights will officially transitioned to the St. Anthony Police Department(SAPD) for policing services.

While SAPD aims to provide 24/7 dedicated patrol coverage, their current staffing levels require a phased approach towards full time patrol coverage during the transition. During the ramp-up period, St. Anthony police officers will provide round-the-clock emergency response, ensuring that public safety remains a top priority.

  • March 1, 2025: SAPD will assume full 24/7 emergency response resonsibility, but will provide limited patrol hours in Falcon Heights. This will start at 8-hours per day of active patrol and increase accordingly as staffing allows.
  • Mid-2026: Increased daily patrol coverage based on staffing progress.
  • January 1, 2027: Full staffing and services are anticipated to be in place.

Animal Control

Lost pets should be reported to St. Anthony Police Department at 612-782-3350.

Coyote Sightings

January/February is coyote breeding season, which prompts more activity as last year’s juveniles are pushed out and these new adults are looking for their own territory to set up housekeeping. New pups are whelped in April or early May.

Although sightings may increase in spring, it’s important to note that Animal Control and officers do not respond to coyote sightings except when dangerous.

Consider the following don'ts:

  • do not feed coyotes
  • do not leave pet food outside
  • do not allow cats and small dogs outside, unattended
