The City of Falcon Heights requires all rental properties be licensed, from single family homes to large multi-family residences.
These properties include single-family homes, duplexes, and triplexes. The permit cost is $50.00 per rented dwelling unit, and license applications must be renewed annually. The Fire Marshal will inspect the rental dwelling every other year.
Multifamily Rental Dwellings
Any building containing four or more dwelling units requires a license. The fees for this license are below. License applications are required annually, and inspections of the common areas occur every other year.

Municipal Business Licensing
All businesses in Falcon Heights require a municipal business license (Falcon Heights City Code Sec. 14-1). The City also requires a fire inspection every-other year, conducted by the Fire Marshal. Additional licenses are required for specific types of businesses.
Residents who operate a business out of their house must apply for a Home Occupation license.
Contractors for various disciplines are required to obtain a City license. Any contractor not required to obtain a state license must get one from the City of Falcon Heights. The City Code also requires that tree contractors and refuse haulers maintain a City license.
The City of Falcon Heights requires that any person engaging in door-to-door sales apply for a permit (peddlers and mobile vendors) or registration (solicitors) from the City. The permit or certificate of registration must be received before business can be conducted in the city.
The permit fee is $25 per person. Non-profits with a valid 501(c)3 status will have their registration fee waived, but an application is still required. Permits and registration are valid for the current calendar year.
Please allow 7 to 10 working days for approval of the application. Background checks, conducted by the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, are required on everyone who will be soliciting.

All Solicitors Must Honor "No Solicitation" signs. Any sign holders receiving unwanted solicitors can lead to suspension by the City Administrator or City Council.
